Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji review
With Gulzar's beautiful song as its title, "Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji" (DTBHJ) surely gets one curious about what to expect. And while Madhur-reality-Bhandarkar venturing into rom-coms reminds you of the 'stuck-in-the-wrong-job' ad, he just about manages to pass here.
The film, as the promos suggest, is about three guys with varying amounts of testosterone, in search of love and lust. Naren Ahuja (Ajay Devgn), a divorced bank manager is still hopeful for a second innings. Milind Kelkar (Omi Vaidya), a self-confessed virgin is cautious of opening his innings only when he finds true love (yawn!). Abhay (Emraan Hashmi) is like an omnibus of all the characters that Hashmi has played in his previous films (they're all the same-a smooth talking slime ball). Naren invites the other two into his giant family home as tenants and to keep him from sinking into post-divorce loneliness. The trio breezes through the film by taunting, encouraging and even consoling each other over their respective love lives (yet too flippant for a "Chashme Baddoor" comparison).
The ladies in this film are hardly inspiring but are luckily marginalized by the leading men. Naren's female interest is his office intern, June Pinto (Shazahn Padamsee) who is squeaky, supremely enthusiastic and sums up to be quite annoying. The obvious age gap between this couple is conveyed by Naren's fumbling attempt at singing, dancing and drinking (which are the only determinants of youth?). It's also twisted that Devgn looks carefully chiseled, while (the supposedly 21-year-old) Shazahn has a million wrinkles marching around her wincing eyes each time she smiles (and she smiles at everything!).
Milind, on the other hand, doesn't have an age divide with his poetic muse RJ Gungun Sarkar (Shraddha Das), who he has a chance meeting with. But Gungun's obnoxiously shallow character manages to suck Milind dry. While the sharpest of the three, Abhay, predictably, manages to get around with a dozen women. The ones with sufficient dialogues include Anushka Narang (Tisca Chopra), an industrialist's trophy wife and her daughter Nikki Narang (Shruti Haasan), an heiress devoted to social causes (how imaginative!).
It's refreshing that DTBHJ strays away from Bollywood cliches, especially the way the three love stories conclude. No one has a change of heart or realizes their partner's true worth eventually. Ajay Devgn's earnest attempt at comedy is laudable (after Golmaal, there seemed little hope). Omi has his highs and lows but his idiotic manner of speech (courtesy 3 Idiots) fails to impress or amuse here. Emraan, for lack of anything else, could've kissed a few more women (as his fans usually have a single-point agenda for catching his movies). Telegu actress, Shraddha Das' screen presence justifies her character's career choice (being on radio and off screen). Shruti Haasan is a screen delight and resembles her mother Sarika characteristically.
Some dialogues in DTBHJ might induce a smile but it would iron out quickly (unlike Shazahn's wrinkles). The screenplay is fairly tight, but you might check your watch about 15 minutes before half time, hoping for an interval. Pritam's songs aren't worthy of humming or even finger drumming.
While Bhandarkar just might get away with this one, let's just hope this doesn't inspire other directors to jump out of their comfort genres. I mean we don't want KJo attempting the next sci-fi thriller, right?

Upright Walking Gorilla
Ambam, the swaggering silverback gorilla who walks around his pen on two legs By Daily Mail Reporter Striding purposefully across the ape enclosure, he looks like a portly – and slightly grumpy – commuter in a hurry to catch a train. While most gorillas are happy enough walking around on all fours, Ambam the silverback prefers a more human form of ambulation. To the amusement of his keepers and fascinated onlookers, the agile ape has mastered the tricky art of walking upright on his hind legs for long distances. Scroll down for video A kind of man: Ambam has become an internet hit after teaching himself to swagger like a human The feat has placed Ambam, a Western lowland gorilla at Port Lympne wild animal park in Kent, on the brink of international stardom. An 18-second piece of footage showing the 21-year-old male walking like a man has become the latest YouTube sensation, viewed by 150,000 people over the last few days. Gorillas usually prefer to get around by 'knuckle walking' – using the padded backs of their front hands to support their huge weights as they move around the floors of forests or zoo enclosures. High and mighty: Ambam the gorilla stands up and strolls off...He sets off across his enclosure with purpose However, they will also stand on two legs to reach branches or get a better view, and can walk upright, swinging their arms parallel to their opposite legs to counterbalance their weight. But few gorillas are as good at it as Ambam. Keeper Ingrid Naisby, who has worked with him for 16 years, said: 'It's quite unusual in gorillas but Ambam does it quite often and he can balance very well. Other gorillas do it occasionally, but he will do it for a bit of a distance. Long arms swinging he really gets into his stride...and a backward glance to see if anyone's following him 'He's always liked to stand up. It's about getting his balance right and he's well practised. He has perfected it.' Ambam was born at Port Lympne's sister park, Howletts, in 1990. He was moved to Port Lympne aged seven and is now the park's largest gorilla at an impressive 34 stone. Standing upright, he is an impressive 6ft tall. The footage of him was taken by animal researcher Johanna Watson while she was working for a project on great ape locomotion. Hulk: Ambam is the park's biggest gorilla, weiging in at 220kg |

Sleepy Shahid In Priyanka's Bedroom?
If IT sleuths had any clue about the kind of revelation they were going to stumble upon... they'd have brought along a posse of journos and lensmen for clinching evidence. Reportedly, when the Income Tax officials swooped down for a raid upon the residence of Priyanka Chopra at the early hour of 7.30 a.m suspecting serious tax evasion, they were greeted heartily by… a sleepy Shahid Kapoor sporting precious little… but a pair of shorts!
Rubbing their eyes in disbelief, as did Shahid, IT personnel assumed that they'd raided the wrong sixth floor apartment in Classic building on Yari Road in suburban Mumbai. Minutes later, it dawned upon them that Sasha and PC were "great friends".
As per insiders, an embarrassed Sasha dressed swiftly and made his exit.
Squeals a highly placed source on grounds of anonymity, "Shahid was very much present at Priyanka's house, but he wasn't in the raw and nor did he open the door because there was house staff for that. Shahid had spent the night at Priyanka's house and she had come home from walking the ramp for a fashion show for Shabana Azmi. They're trying to spend as much time together, coz' Priyanka will soon get busy with the promotions of 'Saat Khoon Maaf.'"
An IT official still reeling from the Sasha shocker, states in a tabloid chat, "We were surely shocked, but we had to carry out a swift raid and that is precisely what we did. The security personnel in the building were not given a chance to warn the actor that we were on our way up."
Reportedly, 70 IT officers drawn from various units raided 12 properties belonging to Chopra and Katrina Kaif in connection with alleged tax evasion. As per insiders, 12 lockers were raided; verification of documents took place and officials seized many documents from the suburban Mumbai residence of PC's dad Dr. Ashok Chopra.

Why spouses should not be too close
A new study has suggested that relationships can get marred if spouses are too close to each other.
According to psychologists, when two people know each other too well they assume too much shared knowledge and their language becomes dangerously vague.
They believe that this "closeness communication bias" can lead to long-term misunderstandings, rows and even relationship problems.
The research by University of Chicago and Williams College in Massachusetts found that often couples and good friends communicate with each other no better than they do with strangers.
"People commonly believe that they communicate better with close friends than with strangers," the Telegraph quoted Prof Boaz Keysar, co-author, as saying.
"That closeness can lead people to overestimate how well they communicate. Your language can become so ambiguous. The brain becomes lazy.
"But it can backfire and the misunderstanding can lead to rows in the future," he stated.
Prof Kenneth Savitsky, who is Prof Keysar's colleague, said it was always important to bear in mind the point of view of others - no matter how close to them you are.
"Our problem in communicating with friends and spouses is that we have an illusion of insight. Getting close to someone appears to create the illusion of understanding more than actual understanding," co-author Prof Nicholas Epley added.
The research has been published in the journal of Experimental Social Psychology. (ANI)
Aamir Khan to host Big Boss 5
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan may be seen hosting the fifth season of celebrity reality show 'Bigg Boss' this year.
While reports say Salman Khan is keen on hosting 'Bigg Boss 5', reliable sources of Endemol, which produces the reality show have a different opinion.
The production house has reportedly gone for another host, who is likely to be Aamir Khan.
Aamir hasn't done a reality show yet and so Bigg Boss 5 will definitely become a good platform for his debut as a television host.
Virus Attack in Gujarat: CCHF
Ahmedabad, Jan 21 (ANI): The government hospitals here have been put on high alert on Friday after the demise of a 30-year-old woman due to Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF).
Professor M D Gajjar, who is head of the department of a civil hospital in Ahmedabad, said that the government is well aware of the current situation and is all geared up to tackle it.
Gajjar further said that all medical personnel have been told to obey Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as it helps in maintaining the required barrier between a patient and the doctors.
"We have taken the due care. Government and the department are well aware of it. Protocol has been established on how to deal with the situation. Therefore, nobody should be panic. We have created isolation wards that have a capacity of 24 patients. All the medical personnel who are working in the isolation ward are told to obey the PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)," he said.
Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas confirmed that the government is concerned about the life-risking virus, and assured that there is nothing to worry, as the disease has not cast its evil shadow over the community yet.
"Yesterday the Center for Communicable Disease Control of Indian has sent six team members here. They are doing a lot of research and NIV (National Institute of Virology), Pune is also guiding us timely on the issue. Whatever is to be taken care of is being done by us. I would like to assure one good thing that it has not spread in the community and is restricted to the kith and kin of the patients," stated Vyas.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Congo is a viral hemorrhagic fever of zoonosis nature (transmitted from animals to humans and vice-versa). (ANI)
